The Andrews Labor Government is getting on with revitalising Broadmeadows Station with the opening of a new station entrance, making it easier and safer for passengers to access the station.

Member for Broadmeadows, Frank McGuire, officially opened the entrance today, which features four new myki readers to ease congestion during the busy morning and afternoon peaks.

This new entrance and additional myki readers will ease congestion at the station in peak times, ensuring a smoother journeyfor our local community”, Mr McGuire said.

Broadmeadows is fast becoming one of the busiest stations in Melbourne’s outer north — that’s why the Labor Government is delivering improvements to get more people where they need to go sooner.

A new ramp for the station entrance and upgraded toilets will also make the station more accessible for people using mobility aids, carrying luggage and for parents with young children and prams.

On top of the station upgrade, traffic and pedestrian safety improvements have been delivered at the Pascoe Vale Road and Dimboola Road intersection.

The slip lane on Dimboola Road has been removed, and a new footpath and signalled turning lane for vehicles will provide better connectivity and safer access to the station for pedestrians and drivers.

The Broadmeadows Station pedestrian subway has also received a make-over, including a new coat of paint and resurfacing to improve safety for passengers, while new lighting in the underpass will be installed over the coming months.

“We ‘re proud to be upgrading Broadmeadows Station — getting more locals where they need to go in a safer and easier way “, Mr McGuire said.

The Broadmeadows Station upgrade is part of the Labor Government’s $14.3 million investment to revitalise the station, helping to connect more people to the jobs and services they need.

In addition, the Labor Government also provided funding in this year’s budget for a business case to examine future upgrades for Broadmeadows station to accommodate the area’s rapidly growing population.
