McGuire on the move:
13th April 2011
New Broadmeadows MP Frank McGuire hopes to move his electorate office to Broadmeadows.
The office, in Wheatsheaf Rd, Glenroy, is outside the electorate boundaries. Mr McGuire said he needed to be in the heart of Broadmeadows, ideally near Broadmeadows Railway Station, Broadmeadows Shopping Centre and the Hume Global Learning Centre.
“I need to be in the best area to service the wants and needs of the constituents I represent.” Mr McGuire said residents should be able to wander past the office and drop in to discuss concerns, rather than having to travel to Glenroy.
He has requested the Department of Parliamentary Services to move the office to a central location in Broadmeadows.
“The logic is there, the rationale is there, now we just have to wait,” Mr McGuire said.
The electorate includes the suburbs of Broadmeadows, Dallas, Coolaroo, Campbellfield and parts of Glenroy, Fawkner, Hadfield, Roxburgh Park, Somerton and Westmeadows.
It is bounded by Glenroy Rd to the south-west, meaning that the office at 145a Wheatsheaf Rd is just marginally outside the electorate.
