Local Clubs in Broadmeadows Receive Funding Boost:
Broadmeadows MP Frank McGuire calls on all sporting organisations throughout the electorate to apply now to get funding from VicHealth’s Active Club Grants program. VicHealth is running two rounds of funding – the second of which is closes on Friday 13 February 2015.
Mr McGuire said “I am driving a major campaign to Save Footy in its Backyard with the Jacana Football Club and we have put together a strategy to help them. I am pursuing the AFL to help out as well as the Victorian government but this grant is not just about football, it goes to all the different clubs and I will be making an announcement soon about the success of some clubs in the area.”
For those who want to make an application now or for more information about VicHealth’s Active Clubs Grants, go to www.vichealth.vic.gov.au/activeclub
“This is part of the model I have built for the Global Learning Village to connect people. Sport is a great way of doing it – Sport and education. We have now been able to in just over a decade build the first public library and to get the Global Learning Centres in Broadmeadows and Craigieburn, which has just recently been acclaimed as the international library of the year where you can now get lifelong learning. We are now trying to connect this to jobs,” Mr McGuire.
“Apart from education, the big connector for people in the area is sport and these are the ways to build club infrastructure, to build a sense of feeling part of the community and it’s great for your health so I encourage all clubs to be involved and to not miss this opportunity.”
